Bob Gilligan is the Director of Networking Software at FreeGate Corporation , a Silicon Valley startup company. Prior to joining FreeGate, he worked as a Senior Staff Engineer at Sun Microsystems, Inc., where he lead the project to develop an IPv6 prototype for Solaris 2, Sun's operating system. He was also the project leader responsible for developing and maintaing the TCP/IP software in Solaris 2, and SunOS 4.x. Before joining Sun, he worked on Packet Radio and Internet projects at SRI International. He holds an Sc.M. degree in Computer Science from Brown University, and a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
